More than meets the eye, and everything you would
expect. That is one way to describe
Trevor Bayne the youngest winner of the Daytona 500 and on his first try
nonetheless. Trevor comes from a
background of racers both boat and car.
He got his start in racing at the early age of 8 with go-karts and has
been moving forward ever since. A native
of Tennessee, Trevor is 23 and has some hefty racing credentials on his
resume’.
In the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, car No. 21 for Wood Brothers Racing, he had his
first win at Daytona 500 in 2011, he has also managed 3 Top Tens in that series
with 55 races. In the NASCAR Nationwide
Series racing the No. 6 car for Roush Fenway Racing, he has raced 146 times,
with 2 Wins, and 69 times in the Top Ten.
The thing that is more than meets the eye, but is just what
you would expect is that Trevor is not shy about his faith and is vocal about
being a Christian. He has been on
mission trips, and encouraged college aged youth in their walk as well during
“Passion 2012” at the Georgia Dome.
Trevor doesn’t have the easy life either, but his faith
keeps him going and on track. In
November of 2013, Trevor was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a disease he is
familiar with as his sister also has MS.
The diagnosis came after feeling numbness in his arm during a race at
the Texas Motor Speedway. He is not
taking any medication and feels fine with no symptoms. The news of the diagnosis did not change his
status as a racer, or his many sponsorships.
He continues to give it his all with the full support of the Roush
Fenway team, as noted in a release from Jack Roush.
If you are looking for someone to watch, keep an eye out for
Trevor Bayne in the NASCAR Nationwide Series No. 6 car, which was made famous
by Mark Martin. Never know when a nice
Roush Mustang on a Tennessee interstate might just have Trevor behind the
wheel.
